Worship

The cornerstone of a church community is worship. At Sunrise, we aim to offer you as many opportunities as possible to connect with God in an authentic and comfortable environment. That's why we offer two dynamic, inspiring worship service styles every Sunday morning, contemporary and traditional.

Our contemporary service begins at 9:00am. It begins with music from our Daybreak Praise Band, led by Contemporary Worship Leader Shana Barr, to get everyone in the mood to praise God as one family. We invite you to sing along with our mix of new worship songs and updated versions of classic hymns. The service continues with shared prayer, scripture reading, and a sermon. Monthly, we share Holy Communion. All these elements combine to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere with joy and gratitude for God's presence at its center. Kids are always welcome, as are your most casual clothes. Wear what you like, come as you are, coffee in hand, perhaps from the Sunrise Café in the lobby! 

Our traditional service shares a lot of elements with our contemporary service with a few notable differences. We bring some of the most affecting and important rituals from our high church history into our modern setting: familiar hymns, led on piano by Traditional Worship Leader Lorraine Romiti, and a more structured order of worship, including a creed recitation and the Gloria Patri. These traditions connect us to our past and help us remain in a reverent state of mind throughout the 11:00 service. That said, we welcome you without exception or expectation, whether you're in a blazer or cargo shorts or both! 

Occasionally, we combine our worship services into one to celebrate a special day in the life of our church. On Confirmation Sunday and Pentecost on the Patio, for example, we worship as one family, then share a meal together. These seasonal events are communicated through our weekly newsletter (sign up below) and on our events page.
