What We Believe
_JPG.jpg)
At Sunrise, our faith is grounded in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the head of the Church's life and witness. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in scripture, illuminated by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.
Â
We believe there is only one eternal, all-powerful, and perfectly wise God who created and maintains everything in existence. Although God is a single spiritual being without a physical body, this one God exists as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three persons share the exact same nature, power, and eternal existence.
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. Jesus was tempted, grew tired, wept, and was angry; Jesus is the paradigm of what it means to be human. Jesus is the Christ, God's Anointed One. We believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead and is the justification for sin and reconnection of God and creation. We affirm that Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promise to bring salvation to all people. We proclaim Jesus as Lord, freely submitting our will to his will, and profess that it is Jesus who rules the world. Through Jesus our Savior, God freed us from sin and gives us the gift of eternal life. The gift of atonement is our reconciliation with God. God reconciles us to God through the mystery of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and victory over sin and death through his Resurrection.
Â
We believe the Holy Spirit is God's continued presence with us, sustaining and sanctifying us; giving us guidance, comfort, and strength. The Holy Spirit renews us and strengthens us for the work of ministry, giving us gifts and fruits through our faith in Christ for the work of the church.

Our identity as followers of Jesus and as United Methodists serves as the foundation for all we do.
We invite you to discover what makes this community unique by spending time with us on
Sunday mornings in worship or at one of our upcoming events.Â
